Job summary

The County of Galveston is seeking a skilled Facilities Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on county buildings and equipment. You will diagnose issues, repair HVAC, plumbing, lighting, doors, and mechanical systems, and ensure safe, reliable operations across facilities.

You will work independently from prioritized work orders, document actions in CMMS, coordinate with vendors, and support emergency response as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and 3 years of progressive facilities maintenance experience.
• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Receive, prioritize, and complete maintenance work orders using CMMS.
• Diagnose problems and perform repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, doors, and building systems.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors; provide access and requirements.
• Maintain tools and equipment; ensure safety and compliance.
• Participate in after-hours emergencies as needed.
