Job summary

The City of Tavares is seeking a skilled Technician II to maintain buildings, ensure safety and functionality for staff and residents. Responsibilities include repairs across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, carpentry, and more under the Facilities Manager.

Candidate should have advanced repair knowledge, ability to read blueprints, and willingness to work rotating shifts and respond to incidents. CDL preferred with requested safety certifications.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of general repair and maintenance techniques.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work independently.
• Ability to keep accurate records and reports.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Perform general and advanced building maintenance including painting, carpentry, roof repairs, plumbing and electrical work.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors to monitor repairs and maintenance services.
• Operate and read the city’s work orders and CMMS; read, write and understand work orders.
• Assist and train other technicians; cross-train in other trades as needed.
• Support city events, traffic control tasks, and routine clean-up activities.
