Job summary

The University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking a Facilities Technician II for the Meat Science & Animal Biologics Discovery building (MSABD). You will assist with executing preventive maintenance on utilities and equipment, perform quality checks, and address punch-list items to ensure optimal functionality for building users.

Qualifications

• Experience with building safety protocols and equipment maintenance.
• Experience with complex building utility systems, coordinating with contractors and vendors; troubleshooting issues.
• Responsive and effective customer service experience with internal and external customers.
• Knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, steam and chilled water distribution, electrical, plumbing, and building materials.

Responsibilities

• Receives, inspects, inventories, and distributes deliveries to appropriate entities under general supervision.
• Utilizes equipment to repair and maintain standard machinery, equipment, and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on lab equipment to support research, teaching, extension, retail production, and other stakeholder needs.
• Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed.
• Performs routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness.
• Troubleshoots, escalates, and documents issues according to established policies and procedures.
