Job summary

COPT Defense Properties, LP in Chantilly, VA is seeking a Building Technician to maintain daily building operations, assist tenants, and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related systems.

You will coordinate subcontractors, ensure safety codes are followed, and keep detailed operation records. The role requires at least three years of facilities experience, on-call availability, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training preferred.
• Experience: minimum of three years in facilities, maintenance, or building technician roles.
• Skills: basic PC skills and ability to learn company software; strong communication and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting, repairs, adjustments, and preventative maintenance to all building systems including HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, electrical and finishes.
• Perform basic preventative building and grounds maintenance.
• Coordinate and monitor access for subcontractors performing maintenance or repair work.
• Ensures all work performed meets required safety codes.
• Inspect and maintain overall building and grounds appearance to ensure a high standard of quality.
• Inspect and evaluate all building systems on a daily basis.
• Maintain daily records of building operation.
• Advise Chief Building Technician of major problems and recommend basic corrective actions.
• Assume day-to-day security needs of building.
• Investigate alarm sequences, unauthorized entry/vandalism, and life/safety situations.
• Perform the duties of a Building Technician I as required.
• Assist with set-up and take down of special events.
• Maintain all tools, parts, and supplies in an organized manner.
• Inform the Chief Building Technician of any needs for replacement, restocking or repair of items.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
