Job summary

The Landmark Center in Chesapeake, VA is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to perform minor maintenance, landscaping, and cleaning across all ForKids properties. You will support operations management and collaborate with maintenance staff to ensure safety and upkeep, including during on-call emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Some related experience or training preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Conduct minor maintenance on agency properties, including HVAC filters, light bulbs, smoke detector batteries, and window blinds.
• Keep storage spaces clean and orderly.
• Oversee and participate in volunteer projects, including landscaping and unit turnover.
• Assist in preparation of residential units for occupancy, including cleaning and light painting.
• Perform landscaping as directed (mowing, trimming, edging, watering).
• Move agency furniture as needed and maintain common areas clean.
• Meet and provide access to agency sites for maintenance vendors.
• Perform routine inspections on agency vehicles (tires, lights, cleanliness).
• Assist with pest control regimen as needed.
• Communicate professionally with clients while maintaining confidentiality and boundaries issues.
• Participate in emergency on-call rotation (one on-call week every four weeks).
