Job summary

City of La Porte seeks an Apprentice Facilities Maintenance worker to perform semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of municipal buildings. The role requires close direction from the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor and offers growth into more complex tasks.

Responsibilities include carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and routine maintenance of HVAC systems. A valid Texas driver license is required, with physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds as needed.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in construction and building maintenance.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Texas Class C Driver License.

Responsibilities

• Perform and assist in building maintenance tasks across carpentry, painting, plumbing, heating, electrical and mechanical work.
• Assist in operation and minor repairs of air conditioning and heating units and components.
• Repair and replace electrical fixtures, switches and related equipment.
• Make repairs on doors, windows, floors, lockers, gates, roofs and ceilings.
• Assist plumbing repairs on valves, pipes, sinks, toilets and faucets.
• Operate and maintain various maintenance tools and equipment.
• Perform repairs on locks and duplicate keys for lock sets.
