Job summary

University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a Facilities Technician I to assist SVM Facility Services with mail room management, key log system management, delivery of mail and packages, and general housekeeping of common spaces. The role supports locker assignments and routine building walk-throughs to ensure safe, efficient operations.

You will work under supervision, using Microsoft Office tools, participate in inventory and deliveries, and help coordinate key distribution.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of related experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes basic equipment to repair and maintain basic machinery, equipment, and facility property under close supervision to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation.
  • Assists with routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness.
  • Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed.
  • Escalates and documents issues according to established policies and procedures.
  • Sets up and tears down equipment for institutional meetings and events.
  • Receive and distribute daily mail, monitor and maintain faculty and staff mailboxes.
  • Assists with inventory and distribution of deliveries to appropriate entities under close supervision.
  • Manage key distribution and cataloging system. Coordinate and follow up with faculty and staff to pick up and drop off keys.
  • Maintain records of locker assignments, locks and key boxes. Prepare lockers for incoming students and clean out lockers at the end of each year.

Job Summary:

This position will be responsible for assisting SVM Facility Services with mail room management, key log system management, delivery of SVM mail and packages, general housekeeping of common spaces, locker assignment and tracking, and maintenance building walk throughs.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Utilizes basic equipment to repair and maintain basic machinery, equipment, and facility property under close supervision to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation 10%
  • Assists with routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness 10%
  • Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed 10%

General maintenance and monitoring of copy equipment. Ensure all machines have paper, toner, staples, etc. Onboard and offboard students and faculty in machines and assign codes to users.

  • Sets up and tears down equipment for institutional meetings and events 15%

  • Assists with inventory and distribution of deliveries to appropriate entities under close supervision 25%

Compensation:

Minimum compensation is $36,421 annually. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:

2 years of related experience

Experience and comfortable with using Microsoft programs (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook email and calendaring)

High School Diploma - minimum
