Job summary

Tucson Unified School District is seeking a maintenance technician to install, repair, and maintain plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, carpentry, floor covering, fixtures and the physical structure within Rincon High School. The position requires four years of multi-trade experience and a valid California? Arizona? license within 30 days.

Location is Rincon High School with 12-month calendar. Effective: 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR. Work schedule is 8 hours per day, 1.0 FTE.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting.
• Verbal and written English communication skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, carpentry, and related facilities within Rincon High School.
• Perform preventive maintenance and respond to repair requests in a timely manner.
• Follow safety guidelines and district policies for facility operations.

Job description

Installs, repairs, and maintains plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, carpentry, floor covering, mechanical, fixtures and physical structure within a high school operation.

Minimum Requirements

• Four (4) years of experience including HVAC/Refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting experience.
• Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.

Requirements Prior To Start Date

• FBI fingerprint background check.
• Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
• Post-offer/pre-employment 50 lb lift test.
• Valid Driver's license (Arizona Driver's License required within 30 days of hire)
• MVReport - showing no more than the allowable points against Driver's License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees.
• A Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Technician Certification is required within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized training or apprenticeship program in the related field(s).

Classification: Blue Collar

FTE: 1.0 - 8 hours per day

Work Calendar: 12 month

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.

Internal candidates will transfer at a rate commensurate with their bargaining unit language.
