Job summary

Tucson Unified School District is seeking a skilled carpenter to maintain, build and repair a variety of wooden structures and furniture within district facilities. You will coordinate activities of other trade shops, building engineers and subcontractors to ensure quality and on-time completion.

Minimum qualifications include four years of carpentry experience and strong English communication skills. A recognized training or apprenticeship program in the field is preferred, and a valid Arizona

SUMMARY

Maintains, builds and repairs a variety of wooden structures and furniture. Coordinates activities of other trade shops, building engineers and subcontractors.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Four years of skilled carpenter experience.
• Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.

REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO START DATE

• FBI fingerprint background check.
• Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
• Post-offer/pre-employment physical examination and lift test.
• Valid Arizona Driver’s license
• MVReport– showing no more than the allowable points against Driver’s License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Completion of a recognized training or apprenticeship program in the field
• General mechanical and electrical knowledge.

FTE: 1.0 – 8 hours per day
Work Calendar: 12 month

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
