Job summary

Tucson Unified School District is seeking an HVAC instructor to manage hands-on learning environments and prepare students with practical installation, maintenance, and repair skills at Rincon High School in Tucson. You will design standards-aligned lessons and assess student progress toward industry credentials.

The ideal candidate holds the required Arizona CTE certificate, has a fingerprint clearance, and can support diverse learners; bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Arizona CTE Industrial and Emerging Technologies Certificate K-12 required.
• Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
• Immunization proof for measles and rubella (MMR) required.
• Preference: experience engaging African American and Latino students.
• Preferred: Spanish bilingual endorsement.

Summary

Effectively manage the learning environment to prepare hands‑on lesson plans in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems; instruct students in HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair techniques; evaluate and monitor students' technical skills and safety practices to advance student achievement toward industry certifications. Understand and appreciate diversity in the skilled trades workforce. Work collaboratively with CTE faculty and industry partners to plan relevant, standards‑aligned instruction. Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning in HVAC technology advancements and instructional best practices.

Minimum Requirements

• Arizona CTE Industrial and Emerging Technologies Certificate K-12
• Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Requirements Prior To Start Date

• Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.

Preferred Requirements

• Demonstrated success in engaging African American and Latino students
• Bilingual (Spanish) endorsement

COMMENTS

Effective: 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR

LOCATION: Rincon High School - 5th St & Swan Area

FTE : 1.0 - 7.5 hours per day

Work Calendar: 9.5 month

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.

Salary will be prorated if the start date is after the first day of the work calendar for the position.

Internal candidates will transfer at a rate commensurate with their bargaining unit language.
