About The Role
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the daily uptime of the physical plant. You will balance a mix of scheduled preventative maintenance and reactive repairs to keep the lights on, the air dry, and the machines running safely. Your mission is to minimize facility-related downtime while maintaining a "safety-first" culture in a high-voltage environment.
What You Will Do
- Routine Maintenance: Perform scheduled oil changes, filter replacements, and belt tensioning on facility equipment (Air Handlers, Compressors, Pumps).
- Dry Room Support: Conduct daily rounds to verify that Dew Point and Relative Humidity sensors are within strict manufacturing tolerances.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to ISO 14001 and OSHA standards. Manage hazardous waste disposal and ensure chemical storage areas meet fire and environmental codes. Ensure 100% compliance with LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), Arc Flash safety, and chemical handling protocols (NMP, electrolytes).
- Electrical & Lighting: Replace ballasts, switches, and outlets; assist Senior Techs with 480V motor replacements and troubleshooting.
- General Piping: Repair leaks in compressed air lines and process water piping; assist with the installation of new utility drops for production equipment.
- Facility Upkeep: Address general building needs including minor carpentry, painting, and flooring repairs within cleanroom environments.
- Logistics & Safety: Monitor chemical drum levels (Electrolyte/NMP) and swap containers following strict safety and PPE protocols.
- Emergency Response: Serve as a primary responder for facility emergencies, including power outages, gas leaks, or fire suppression system triggers.
- CMMS Management: Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to track work orders, inventory levels for spare parts, and equipment history.
- Preventative & Predictive Maintenance: Execute scheduled inspections and servicing on HVAC systems, industrial chillers, air compressors, and wastewater treatment equipment to prevent unplanned downtime.
- Dry Room Oversight: Monitor and maintain specialized Ultra-Low Dew Point Dry Rooms, ensuring airtight seals and desiccant runner performance to protect moisture-sensitive battery chemistry.
- System Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic failures in facility-wide utility systems (e.g., steam boilers, cooling towers, and vacuum pumps).
Qualifications
What You Need
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology, Mechatronics, Machine Tool Technology, or a related field is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of industrial maintenance experience, with strong background in troubleshooting and maintaining large infrastructure equipment and systems including HVAC, and site-wide compressed air and chilled water systems.
- Electrical Proficiency: Ability to troubleshoot 480V 3-phase power systems and interpret complex electrical schematics.
- HVAC/R Expertise: Experience with industrial-scale refrigeration and climate control, specifically regarding humidity-controlled environments.
- Plumbing & Piping: Familiarity with process piping for deionized (DI) water, compressed air, and chemical delivery.
- Automation Knowledge: Basic understanding of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and Building Management Systems (BMS) to monitor facility health.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Ability to follow highly specific, step-by-step instructions required for working in hazardous battery manufacturing environments.
- Ability to read and interpret building drawings, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC and structural details
- Strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn and utilize maintenance software tools effectively.
- Ability to understand and follow all standards of IATF-16949, VDA 6.3 quality standards and ISO14001 environmental standards.
