Job description

Facilities Maintenance Worker

Performs a wide range of facilities services tasks, including non-technical maintenance of plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and equipment, at a level not requiring formal licensure. May also perform tasks of other unlicensed trades, such as light equipment operation, carpentry, painting, and locksmith duties.

Responsibilities

  1. Monitor, maintain, and perform standard repairs on building electrical systems, such as fixtures, switches, photo cells, and outlets; assist licensed electricians with non-technical repairs as needed.
  2. Oversee the performance of HVAC systems; perform standard repairs, component replacements, cleaning, and system adjustments.
  3. Maintain hot equipment including fryers, ovens, and other heating appliances.
  4. Perform non-technical maintenance of plumbing systems, including fixing leaks, clearing obstructions, installing water coolers, and assisting licensed plumbers.
  5. Carry out carpentry tasks such as drywall installation and repair, window and door replacement, painting, and hardware installation.
  6. Assist in maintaining water treatment and storage systems.
  7. Perform general maintenance, custodial duties, and trash removal.
  8. Conduct preventive maintenance cycles on all equipment.
  9. Repair kitchen equipment as needed.
  10. Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools and supplies; promote safety and environmental practices.
  11. Document maintenance activities and maintain records of work performed.
  12. Perform snow removal when required.
  13. Perform other miscellaneous job duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of relevant experience, or
  • High school diploma or GED plus successful completion of PPD Trades Training Program and at least 6 months of relevant experience.
  • HVAC EPA certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Computer skills in a Windows environment.
  • Record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools applicable to trade tasks.
  • Ability to repair and maintain appliances and HVAC systems.

  • Knowledge of building trades.
  • Certifications: OSHA 10, EPA Type 2 and 3, NATE.

Distinguishing Characteristics
