Job summary

Qualifications

  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality work
  • Excellent customer-service skills and ability to communicate professionally with students, faculty, staff, parents, and contractors
  • Dependable, adaptable, and willing to support the evolving needs of the Facilities Department

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on campus buildings, equipment, and infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot and complete minor repairs to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, irrigation, and mechanical systems
  • Assist with routine HVAC maintenance, including filter changes, equipment inspections, and coordination with outside service providers
  • Respond promptly to work orders and service requests involving lighting, fixtures, outlets, doors, locks, hardware, restrooms, classrooms, offices, and common areas
  • Complete general facility maintenance tasks including painting, patching walls, ceiling tile replacement, carpentry repairs, and minor construction projects
  • Conduct routine inspections of campus facilities and proactively identify maintenance, safety, and operational concerns
  • Assist with maintaining campus appearance and functionality, including exterior spaces, walkways, fencing, signage, furnishings, and support equipment
  • Support school events, athletics, performances, meetings, and special programs through facility setup and teardown, including tables, chairs, staging, equipment, and room configurations
  • Be available for occasional evening and weekend work to support events, athletic programs, emergencies, special projects, and campus operations
  • Maintain tools, equipment, inventory, and maintenance records in an organized manner
  • Coordinate and work effectively with faculty, staff, students, contractors, and vendors
  • Follow all OSHA, CAL-OSHA, and school safety policies and procedures
  • Participate in emergency response activities and after-hours facility support as needed

Viewpoint School is currently seeking a skilled, dependable, and service-oriented Facilities Technician to join the Facilities Department. This position is responsible for supporting the maintenance, repair, and operation of campus buildings, grounds, and infrastructure to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

The successful candidate will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, irrigation, and building systems. In addition, this role assists with general facility maintenance, campus improvement projects, and event support, helping to maintain a first-class educational environment across Viewpoint's 40-acre campus.

Physical Requirements
  • Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Work on ladders, scaffolding, rooftops, and elevated work areas
  • Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, twist, and perform repetitive motions
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, maintenance equipment, carts, and school vehicles safely
  • Walk and stand for extended periods throughout a 40-acre campus
  • Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to read work orders, blueprints, equipment manuals, and safety documentation
  • Vision and manual dexterity sufficient to inspect equipment, perform repairs, and operate tools safely
Schedule

This position generally works daytime business hours; however, flexibility is required. Occasional evenings, weekends, and emergency response assignments are expected to support school events, campus activities, and operational needs

Compensation

Anticipated compensation is $30.00 - $35.00 per hour depending on experience
