Job summary

MCPHS is seeking a Facilities Technician to support operations, maintenance, and repairs across the University’s buildings and grounds, with light HVAC work. The role involves an 8-hour shift within a 40-hour work week, and overtime may be required.

Responsibilities include general maintenance, room setups, carpentry, and basic repairs to doors, electrical and plumbing systems, along with assisting in snow removal and office moves. Strong teamwork and multitasking are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance including painting.
• Complete facilities work and room set-ups initiated by faculty, staff, and students.
• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain building systems and facilities.
• Assist with small-scale carpentry projects.
• Repair and replace doors, hardware, and basic locksmith tasks.
• Perform light electrical repairs to appliances, fixtures and switches.
• Perform light plumbing repairs to water and sewage systems including replacement of fittings and clearing stoppages.
• Park cars.
• Repair and replace glass, tile, screens, locks, and drapes.
• Assist in snow and ice removal as needed.
• Assist in small office moves.
• Carry out preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.
• Participate in on-call rotation for emergencies.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor.

• Responsible for general maintenance including painting
• Completes facilities work and room set-ups initiated by faculty, staff, and students
• Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains the building systems and facilities as required
• Assists with the completion of small-scale carpentry projects
• Performs repairs of doors, hardware, and basic locksmith tasks
• Completes light electrical repairs to appliances, fixtures and switches
• Completes light plumbing repairs to water and sewage systems including replacement of fittings and clearing of stoppages
• Parks cars
• Repairs and replaces of glass, tile, screens, locks, drapes
• Assists in removal of snow and ice as needed
• Assists in small office moves
• Carries out preventative maintenance tasks as assigned
• Participates in the on-call rotation for emergency situations such as inclement weather or mechanical failures
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor

Required:

• A minimum of a high school diploma or GED
• A valid driver’s license
• Basic knowledge of all building systems (HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical)
• Basic carpentry skills and working knowledge of building materials, size, and nomenclature
• Ability to work with hand tools
• Basic computer skills
• Demonstrated ability to work with peers
• Ability to manage and multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
• Must be able to communicate and read English, follow verbal and written instruction
• The ability to occasionally work off-hours and weekends
