Job summary

Washtenaw Community College seeks a Custodian/Equipment Repair technician to maintain and repair custodial equipment across campus. This internal bid‑only role supports Building Services by performing preventative maintenance, inspections, inventory, and asset management.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, the ability to lift 60 pounds, and the capacity to obtain hi-lo and aerial lift certification within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to obtain hi-lo and aerial lift certification within six months of hire.
• Ability to lift sixty pounds and perform manual labor.
• Ability to learn and use technical software such as work order systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair custodial equipment to enable staff to perform duties.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment (vacuum cleaners, buffers, scrubbers, etc.).
• Inspect equipment and report needs for parts or replacement.
• Develop and support maintenance plans and standards.
• Coordinate deliveries and training for Building Services staff.
