Job summary

The City of El Segundo is seeking a full-time Facilities Systems Mechanic to diagnose, repair and maintain electrical, plumbing, HVAC and related building systems in City facilities. Under supervision, you will handle electrical distribution up to 480 volts, HVAC equipment, lighting, and plumbing components, and you will coordinate with other staff.

Three years of progressively responsible experience in building and facility maintenance.
High school diploma or GED with college coursework.
Valid California driver's license and acceptable driving record required.

Responsibilities

Diagnoses, repairs and maintains electrical distribution up to 480 volts including lighting, alarms, audio systems and related infrastructure.
Maintains HVAC equipment including air handlers, motors, pumps and controls.
Diagnoses, repairs and maintains plumbing systems including pumps, valves and water heaters.
Repairs doors, hardware and furniture; prepares surfaces for painting and maintains common areas.
Keeps records of maintenance, purchases and work performed; coordinates with other City staff and contractors as needed.
Responds to complaints and determines corrective actions in a timely manner.
