Job summary

James Skinner Baking Company in Omaha, NE is seeking a Building Systems Technician to maintain the functionality, safety, and cleanliness of our facilities, including HVAC, refrigeration, boilers, plumbing and electrical systems. The role covers inspections, repairs, and supporting energy efficiency projects in a fast-paced food production environment.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
3+ years of facilities maintenance or related trades experience.
Ammonia refrigeration experience and RETA certification strongly preferred.
Boiler Operator Certification, or ability to obtain one within reasonable time.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
Strong knowledge of building systems and maintenance procedures.
Basic safety regulations knowledge (OSHA, etc.).

Responsibilities

Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems including rooftop units.
Manage ammonia refrigeration systems safely per standards.
Perform routine maintenance on boilers, steam, and hot water systems.
Service and maintain compressed air systems.
Carry out plumbing work including water lines and fixtures.
Perform light electrical work and low-voltage wiring.
Complete PM schedules and keep service records.
Monitor building automation systems and alarms.
