Job summary

Hill 35 is seeking a Head Custodian to oversee custodial staff at a district middle school. The role requires planning, scheduling, and supervising 5–10 custodians, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and maintenance across facilities.

The position includes training staff, maintaining records, coordinating with administration, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. A valid Texas driver’s license and a high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Three years custodial supervisory experience preferred.
• Valid Texas Driver's License.
• Successful completion of district supervision training within one year of entering position.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, prepare work schedules and supervise 5–10 custodians.
• Supervise and train custodial staff on safe cleaning techniques and use of equipment.
• Oversee cleaning inside/outside district buildings: floors, carpet, walls, glass, ceilings, gutters, patios.
• Oversee grounds maintenance: parking lots, fences, playgrounds, lawns, shrubs, trees, flower beds.
• Move equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds; request assistance for heavier items.
• Perform light maintenance: painting, changing bulbs, installing dispensers.
• Ensure proper use of PPE and report incidents to authorities as required.
• Secure facility and set alarms; cover facility activities as needed.
• Requisition, inventory, store, and issue custodial supplies/equipment.
• Ensure compliance with Texas Hazardous Communications Act and staff training.
• Schedule staff to meet cleaning/maintenance needs; coordinate with Custodial Supervisor and Risk Management.
• Assist with special projects and duties as assigned by administration or supervisor.
• Maintain confidentiality of information.
• Drive district or personal vehicle as required.
• Maintain district records and follow records retention schedules.
• Report to work on time every day.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
