Job summary

Alpek Polyester USA, LLC seeks a Facilities Specialist to join the Columbia Site Maintenance Team in Gaston, SC. The role emphasizes safety, ownership, and accountability as you maintain facilities and support maintenance activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 3+ years' experience as a facilities specialist in an industrial manufacturing facility.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to read blueprints, sketches, and specifications.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/kneel for extended periods.
• Willing to work overtime, including nights and weekends as needed.
• Basic math and measurement skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform building maintenance and repairs including roofing, plumbing, painting, light carpentry, and other tasks.
• Maintain site appearance and upkeep.
• Collaborate with multi-craft teams and assist scaffolding/insulation teams as needed.
• Execute civil and contract work as directed by engineering.
• Operate shop machines and use tools such as drill presses and saws.
• Utilize SAP to manage work orders, parts, and materials.
• Support planning and scheduling during routine operations and shutdowns.
• Serve on plant Emergency Response Team.
• Fulfill other duties as assigned.

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Columbia Site Maintenance Team based in Gaston, SC. The ideal candidate for the Facilities Specialist possesses a safety mindset and applies a high degree of self-driven ownership and accountability over their duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

The Facilities Specialist will be reportable to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor and their primary responsibilities will be accomplished through the following tasks:

• Performing building maintenance and repairs including roofing, plumbing, painting, light carpentry, and other structural or system-related tasks
• Maintaining the overall physical appearance and upkeep of the site
• Collaborating with multi-craft teams, assisting scaffolding and insulation teams as needed
• Executing civil and contract work as directed by engineering
• Operating shop machines, such as drill presses and saws
• Utilizing SAP to manage work orders, parts, and materials
• Supporting planning and scheduling activities during routine operations and shutdowns
• Serving on the plant ERT (Emergency Response Team)
• All other duties assigned

Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED
• Must have a valid driver\’s license
• Must have 3+ years’ experience as a facilities specialist in an industrial manufacturing facility
• Civil/Concrete experience is a plus
• Must be able to multi-task, complete work orders in a timely manner, be driven, stay on task
• Must have a good knowledge of building maintenance and operations functions
• Must have the ability to set up, adjust, and safely operate drill press, wood saws, and various pneumatic and electric tools
• The ability to read blueprints, sketches, specifications, written, and verbal instructions is required
• Must have basic math skills, able to convert decimals to fractions, and use all units of measure
• Must be able to read a tape measure and square to 1/32\"
• Must be able to work overtime, to include nights and weekends, when needed in order to meet production deadlines
• Must be able to physically meet job requirements; standing, kneeling, lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Knowledge of industry safety practices and willingness to participate in advancing safety culture
• Great Attendance and ability to work independently without daily supervision
