Job summary

Alpek Polyester USA, LLC seeks an Industrial Insulator for our Gaston, SC facility. You will install, maintain, and repair insulation on critical equipment and systems to ensure temperature control and energy efficiency.

The role requires safety focus and teamwork in a multi-craft environment with possible ER Team participation. Candidates should have 3+ years’ industrial insulation experience, NCCER/NIA training preferred, scaffold experience, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• 3+ years’ experience as an insulator or pipe coverer in an industrial facility.
• NCCER, NIA, or similar training preferred.
• Scaffold experience.
• Strong safety record and eligibility for Emergency Response Team.

Responsibilities

• Applying, removing, and repairing insulation on industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork, heat exchangers, tanks, and vessels to control noise and maintain temperature.
• Covering, sealing, and finishing insulated surfaces and access points using plastic covers, canvas strips, sealants, tape, cement, or asphalt mastic.
• Removing and properly disposing of old insulation materials.
• Measuring and cutting insulation to fit pipes, elbows (45° and 90°), vessels, ductwork, pump boxes, and other surfaces using hand tools.
• Installing insulation jacketing, including fabricating oversized pieces and fittings.
• Reading and interpreting job packages and technical specifications to determine work requirements.
• Obtaining and maintaining certifications to operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and man lifts, as required.
• Working safely at heights and in confined spaces when required.

Responsibilities

• Applying, removing, and repairing insulation on industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork, heat exchangers, tanks, and vessels to control noise and maintain temperature.
• Covering, sealing, and finishing insulated surfaces and access points using plastic covers, canvas strips, sealants, tape, cement, or asphalt mastic.
• Removing and properly disposing of old insulation materials.
• Measuring and cutting insulation to fit pipes, elbows (45° and 90°), vessels, ductwork, pump boxes, and other surfaces using hand tools such as tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors.
• Installing insulation jacketing, including fabricating oversized pieces, reducers, tees, and other custom fittings.
• Working collaboratively in a multi-craft environment alongside scaffold builders and other maintenance personnel.
• Reading and interpreting job packages and technical specifications to determine work requirements.
• Obtaining and maintaining certifications to operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and man lifts, as required.
• Working safely at heights and in confined spaces when required.
• Supporting the company’s planning and scheduling model during routine maintenance and shutdown activities.
• Serving on the plant ERT (Emergency Response Team).
• All other duties as assigned.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver’s License

Experience

• Must have 3+ years’ experience as an insulator or pipe coverer in an industrial manufacturing facility
• Preferred
• NCCER, NIA, etc. training
• Scaffold experience
• Excellent safety record and ability to meet the qualifications to be on Emergency Response Team.
