Job summary

Promise Resource Network is a nonprofit survivor-led organization dedicated to mental health and recovery. We seek a reliable facilities team member to perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and light repairs to keep our building safe and operational.

The role combines HVAC/plumbing tasks, painting, minor carpentry, and general cleaning. The ideal candidate works independently, communicates needs, and helps support events and daily operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Hands-on handyman and janitorial experience.
• Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
• Strong attention to detail; ability to work independently.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Valid NC driver’s license or ability to operate the company vehicle.
• Proficient with MS Office or similar programs.
• Proficient with facility management software (MaintainX).

Responsibilities

• Complete HVAC maintenance, plumbing, low-voltage electrical, and small carpentry work as needed.
• Conduct minor repairs such as patching walls, fixing leaks, replacing light bulbs, and adjusting doors or furniture.
• Perform painting of walls, trim work and patch work as needed.
• Monitor and report maintenance issues or safety hazards.
• Perform light to moderate yard work (mowing, trimming, debris collection).
• Perform daily cleaning of floors, restrooms, break rooms, and common areas.
• Empty trash and recycling bins and restock supplies.
• Assist with setting up and breaking down furniture for events or meetings.
• Maintain maintenance and cleaning equipment and inventory, communicating inventory needs with Manager.
• Respond to urgent repair or cleaning requests in a timely manner.

We are seeking a reliable and skilled person with facility maintenance, and handyman type skills to join our facilities team. This role combines moderate building maintenance and repair tasks to ensure our building remains clean, safe, and fully operational as well as general cleaning duties.

Promise Resource Network (PRN) is a peer-run organization that is operated and staffed by people who have survived trauma, suicide attempts, overdoses, psychiatric hospitalization, incarceration, and/or being unhoused who use the wisdom of their healing and recovery to ignite social change, inspire hope, and serve as a catalyst for personal greatness.It is our goal that every person finds the hope, inspiration, and support to move through challenges, discover their strengths, live their dreams, and find meaningful purpose in their lives.

When people experience emotional distress and related crises, the limited crisis supports are frequently emergency departments, inpatient settings, crisis stabilization units, and walk-in urgent cares.PRN's peer-run respites offer an alternative healing environment, with support from others that have similar experiences (Peer Specialists) who offer connection, exploration of the crisis to make meaning out of the experience and offer many wants to work through the distress without the need for forced or involuntary treatment.

General Responsibilities

• Perform light to moderate yard work (i.e. mowing (push-mower & riding), trimming, debris collection, leaf blowing/collection, etc)
• Perform daily cleaning of floors, restrooms, break rooms, and common areas.
• Empty trash and recycling bins and restock supplies.
• Assist with setting up and breaking down furniture for events or meetings.
• Maintain maintenance and cleaning equipment and inventory, communicating inventory needs with Manager.
• Respond to urgent repair or cleaning requests in a timely manner.

• Proven experience in handyperson tasks and janitorial work.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Good physical condition and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must have a valid NC Driver's license or ability to legally operate the company vehicle.
• Proficient with MS Office or similar programs
• Proficient with facility management software (i.e. MaintainX)
