The Facilities Services Manager earns a competitive salary of $79,029.75 - $100,762.92/per year based on experience and qualifications. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance, plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. A Day in the Life of the Facilities Services Manager
General Description
The purpose of this job within the organization is to provide direction, develop policy, set division standards for activities of the Facilities Management Division of Public Works.
This job works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports.
Essential Functions:
Supervises the operation, maintenance, and repair of all facility components under purview, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, life safety equipment, kitchen equipment, appliances and components, furniture, and related systems.
Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises, reviews, and participates in the work of staff/vendors responsible for facility maintenance, monitoring work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
Finds opportunities to grows the division regarding equipment, facilities, and necessary maintenance; finds creative ways to fund and achieve these opportunities.
Remains on call for any City equipment failures, power outages, building emergencies, and for questions and assistance.
Develops primary and supplemental budget requests for review and approval for the Facilities Management Division; manages the budget throughout the fiscal year for adherence to the City's purchasing policy.
Informs, instructs and answers questions via email and phone, including daily communication with third party vendor partners to set expectations and follow up to solve issues.
Collaborates with the Purchasing Division on bid proposals and contract renewals, contract bid review and decision making, writing and articulate agenda requests for City Council introduction and approval.
Partners with the Capital Projects Division to bring experience and value to new vertical construction projects; addresses consistency issues with newly completed locations and set standards for equipment installations.
Plans long range view of the Facilities Division to include a broader and more robust maintenance agenda.
Manage service contracts, including creating requests for contract/bid, coordinating schedules, recording time and material costs, evaluating and reporting vendor/contractor performance, verifying orders received, and approving invoices for payment.
Additional Duties:
Organizes and attends multiple meetings with various objectives for multiple vertical construction project updates, weekly team meetings, supervisor one on one, training opportunities, and vendor expectations.
Conducts monthly reporting on facilities activities and statistics.
Resolves day-to-day issues; uses analytical skills to identify issues and make decisions.
Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires an associate's degree or specialized courses/training equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college in business, engineering or closely related field.
Requires six (6) years or more of experience in facilities or building operations management, with responsibilities involving multiple facilities.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
Facilities Management Professional (FMP) or Certified Facilities Manager (CFM)
