Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety professional to lead program administration, training, and compliance across Facilities Services.

The role focuses on confined space, hazardous energy, fall protection, audits, incident investigation, and cross-functional collaboration; requires advanced degrees in safety and health and several years of relevant experience, with after-hours on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Master's or advanced degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, Industrial Hygiene or equivalent.
• At least four years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or at least two years with a master’s degree.
• At least two years’ experience in a facilities safety related field.
• Experience with editing documents and coordinating with multiple teams.
• Experience creating and providing safety training and strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides program administration for confined space entry, LOTO, fall protection, hazardous materials storage, PPE, and more.
• Performs quarterly workers’ compensation data reviews and audits for incident trends and costs.
• Reviews registrations and documents for regulatory and university safety compliance.
• Designs and delivers written and computer-based training as SME.
• Conducts safety training for all levels of employees.
• Performs industrial hygiene evaluations and safety audits to ensure compliance.
• Investigates safety incidents and reports; develops prevention programs and emergency plans.
• Represents Facilities Services on cross-functional safety initiatives.
