  • Coordinates with Training to design and develop training materials.
  • Conducts safety training for all employee levels.
  • Develops and implements environmental and occupational health safety programs and procedures.

Purpose

To provide leadership, professional knowledge and expertise in the administration, support and continued sustainability of environmental, occupational health and safety programs, policies and procedures and training for Facilities Services.

Responsibilities
  • Provides program administration to include confined space entry, Control of Hazardous Energy (LOTO), fall protection, hazardous materials storage, PPE and others as required.
  • Perform quarterly Worker's Compensation data reviews and operational audits of operations and facilities within Facilities Services to provide incident trends and costs reports.
  • Reviews registration and documents for regulatory and University safety compliance (i.e. TCEQ Tier II).
  • Coordinate with Facilities Services Training as Subject Matter Expert in the design and development of written and computer-based training.
  • Conducts training for all levels of employees.
  • Performs industrial hygiene evaluations, occupational and general safety audits to ensure a safe environment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Investigates and evaluates new safety equipment for appropriateness.
  • Responsible for the overall development, coordination and implementation of environmental, occupational health and safety programs, policies and procedures for Facilities Services to assure compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and institutional policies.
  • Investigates and reports safety incidents and near misses.
  • Develops, implements and reports incident investigation, cause mapping, data analysis, metrics and recurrence prevention programs, procedures and emergency plans.
  • Conducts Shop visits for safety procedural reviews and audits.
  • Provides audit review guidance.
  • Represents Facilities Services in cross-functional teams that develop plans, programs, policies, standard operating procedures, etc.
  • The teams may include representatives from construction, utilities, and Environmental Health and Safety.
  • Attend campus safety meetings representing Facilities Services.
  • May attend conferences, meetings, and workshops to keep up to date on new safety methods and procedures to applicable codes and regulations or to maintain required level of certification.
  • Position requires participation in an after-hours on-call rotation, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
