Job summary

Brown University’s Building & Operations Manager oversees daily facilities and research operations for the Physical Sciences, acting as the primary representative on facilities, safety, security and emergency matters. The role collaborates with Facilities Management to ensure safe, reliable instructional and research environments on campus in Providence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree plus 3-5 years of related administrative and building management experience.
• RI State building trade licensure preferred.
• Experience managing research labs in a higher education setting preferred.
• Knowledge of facility operations, including safety, security and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily facilities and research operations for the Physical Sciences.
• Coordinate with FM for maintenance, repair and project execution.
• Support office moves, space setups, and staff transitions.
• Promote safety and compliance with EHS, DPSEM and stakeholders.
• Read and understand building construction documents and blueprints.
• Leverage MS 365, Google Workspace, Adobe, Zoom, Bluebeam, Smartsheet in daily work.
