The State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs in Chippewa Falls/Eau Claire is seeking a Facilities Repair Worker- Advanced. You will perform interior and exterior building, facility, and grounds maintenance and repairs across northwest locations.

Typical schedule is Monday through Thursday 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with occasional overnight travel; starting pay is $24.90 per hour, with a 12-month probation and state benefits including substantial leave time and wellness programs.

The State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is hiring a Facilities Repair Worker- Advanced.

The position will be headquartered in Chippewa Falls or Eau Claire and will service the building locations in the northwest area of the state. The general schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the exact schedule will be determined at the time of job offer. Overnight travel will be required on an occasional basis.

The Facilities Repair Worker- Advanced (FRW- Advanced) works under the general supervision of the Building and Grounds Supervisor, Area 4. This position performs interior and exterior building, facility, and groundsmaintenance and repairs. Tasks will include the inspection, analysis, installation, adjustment,modification, repair, corrective maintenance, replacement, and preventative maintenance workof Building Components (i.e. walls, flooring, ceilings, doors, locks and lock hardware, roofing,skylights, masonry, painting, patching, windows and window glazing, replacement of lights,lamps, and ballasts, repair of furniture / furnishings, etc.), Paved Surfaces (sidewalks,roadways, parking areas, aircraftparking apron, other cement and asphalt surfaces, spillways,etc.), and Various Safety Systems & Equipment. This position provides year-round groundsmaintenance. Tasks include but are not limited to mowing and trimming grass, trimmingtrees, bushes and weeds, operate sweeper truck on roadways and aircraft parking apronweekly, paint line striping as needed, provide weed and pest control on turf areas and fencelines including the application of chemicals as required, snow plowing, salting and methodsof ice control, etc., on walkways, roadways, parking areas, aircraft apron, etc. This position isalso responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of maintenance utility vehicles,equipment, and attachments as well as related construction equipment.

Salary Information

Starting pay is $24.90/ hr.

This position is in the 03-12 pay schedule/range. A 12-month probation will be required.

For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

The Department of Military Affairs does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.

Must possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy to drive a state vehicle.

State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy:

Must have a valid driver's license

Minimum of two year's driving experience

Must be 18 years of age or older

Additionally, the driving record must not reflect the following conditions:

Three or more moving violations (with point reductions) and/or at fault accidents in the past 2 years

An OWI or DUI violation within the past 12 months

A suspension or revocation of the driver's license

Must be physically able to lift and move objects in excess of 50 pounds, bend, stoop, twist, kneel and climb ladders.

Must be able to operate lift equipment and have no limitations for working in high areas.

All new permanent, project, and limited term employees will be required to report to Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program. Additional information will be sent to the new employees and their supervisors on the Tuesday prior to NEO.

Qualifications

Candidates who meet minimum qualifications will have experience with:

  • Grounds maintenance and landscaping
  • Towing and hauling trailers
  • Basic computer skills such as timecard entry, e-mail, Microsoft TEAMS.

In addition to the minimum qualifications, well-qualified candidates will also have experience with the following preferred qualifications:

  • Training or experience with safety practices/ best practices related to housekeeping and building services.
  • Commercial building mechanical systems.
  • Computerized maintenance management software
