Job Description
Req#: 9700 This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by providing an environment that allows for the perfect patient experience for patients and staff. This will be done by managing projects related to the physical facility that will enhance, improve, or maintain the level of care that is provided. This will also be done by wisely spending money that has been allocated to projects knowing that dollars saved can be reallocated to other patient centered initiatives. Job Duties- Follow Mercy Medical Center's standard project management process for all projects that are assigned.
- Manage projects through the entire life cycle of the project (concept, planning, execution, and close-out). During the process, oversee programming, design, estimation, purchasing, scheduling, construction, equipment, furniture, and IT installation and close-out.
- Work closely with end-users, contractors, facilities staff, finance, IT, and others. Coordinate with all groups and individuals involved. Provide leadership and guidance to the group.
- Develop high-level as well as detailed schedules for both individual projects and groups of projects.
- Coordinate with other project managers so that all projects run smoothly.
- Develop cost estimates for all portions of the project including design fees, construction, IT, furniture, and equipment costs.
- Utilize Mercy's current software to process purchase orders, cost changes, change orders and other financial transactions related to capital development projects.
- Handle financial documentation for capital projects including: project budgets, cash-flow projections, processing of invoices, and lien documentation.
- Act as a resource and point of contact regarding project status updates for interested/affected parties
- Prepare and distribute project correspondence such as contracts, submittal logs, meeting minutes. Process project documentation such as expenses, contracts, and certificates of insurance, etc.
- Implement close-out procedures for all assigned projects, including document review and final payment reconciliations.
- Work with all Authorities Having Jurisdiction related to a project including local and state governments and fire marshals, The Joint Commission (TJC), and Iowa Department of Inspection and Appeals.
- Work with-in the guidelines and restrictions of agencies providing funding for projects such as: Hall-Perrine Foundation, FEMA, US Economic Development Administration, and other Grant Agencies.
- Understand the infrastructure systems of Mercy Medical Center's facilities. Assist with facility planning and problem solving. Manage Facilities related projects as assigned.
- Prepare and maintain record documents of all Mercy facilities including Joint Commission Life Safety Drawings.
- Prepare and design drawings, details, and sketches from mark-ups provided by Facilities team or requests from staff. Draw and plot drawings to scale as required.
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously Strong leadership and communication skills Must have advanced skill level in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project and working knowledge of Microsoft Access. Knowledge of Strata preferred, but not required. Attentive to detail Organization and time management skills, communication skills (both verbal and written) Willingness to work in a dynamic, cross-functional, team oriented environment Ability to read and understand architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and specifications. Proficiency in AutoCAD
Professional Experience1 year related experience required.
EducationBachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
Licensure, Certification, RegistrationMust have Valid Driver’s License Must provide and maintain a good driving record, documented at hire, by a copy of a Motor Vehicle Record.
