Job summary

Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY is seeking a Plumbing Mechanic responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing plumbing fixtures, piping, and equipment. You will inspect systems, replace components and ensure compliance with codes in a dynamic campus environment.

The role requires five years of experience, own hand tools, and a valid NYS driver’s license. It includes potential emergency repairs and supervision of helpers when needed, with a 40-hour week and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of five years full-time experience in the Plumbing trade.
• Experience with steam, hot water and chilled water systems.
• Provides their own hand tools, and knows materials, methods and hazards of trade.
• Must possess a valid NYS Driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, adjust, service and maintain plumbing drains, water and gas lines, fixtures and equipment.
• Inspect plumbing systems and perform routine maintenance and repairs.
• Replace defective pipe by cutting, bending, soldering and threading.
• Open clogged drains with plumber’s snake or other tools.
• Replace worn parts of valves, faucets, shower controls and related components.
• Follow plumbing codes and regulations including food service equipment standards.
• Estimate materials and record time on each work order.
• Direct helpers or other tradesmen when required.
• Install plumbing components to improve performance or adapt systems.
