Job summary

College of DuPage is seeking an Assistant Chief Operating Engineer to lead daily operations of the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Department. You will manage boilers, chillers, pumps, electrical systems, and building automation to deliver safe, efficient operations for students and staff.

You will supervise engineers and maintenance mechanics, develop procedures, oversee safety compliance, and coordinate with project managers on renovations and upgrades.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Engineering in the MEP related discipline is required.
• City of Chicago Stationary Engineers License is required.
• EPA Universal Refrigerant Technician certification is required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in the MEP related discipline is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day operations, maintenance and repair of all physical plant equipment (boilers, chillers, pumps, distribution systems, ventilation, electrical generation, refrigeration, building automation, life safety).
• Direct, coordinate, and manage the day-to-day duties of the engineering/maintenance personnel.
• Ensure effective operations by determining work priorities, scheduling and assigning staff, following up on results.

Education

Associate Degree in Engineering (MEP)

City of Chicago Stationary Engineers License

EPA Universal Refrigerant Technician certification

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in the MEP related discipline preferred
