Job summary

Novi Public Library in Novi, MI is hiring a Facilities Supervisor to lead a small team and manage building operations, safety, and vendor coordination. You will oversee maintenance, security, and program support, ensuring a clean, safe, and well-functioning library space for the public and staff.

The role requires a degree in building management (or related field), supervisory experience, MIOSHA knowledge, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in building management or related field.
• Minimum of three years overseeing building systems.
• One year supervisory experience required.
• Knowledge of MIOSHA standards and workplace safety protocols.
• Experience with irrigation, HVAC and boiler systems preferred.
• Electrical/plumbing/carpentry certification preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office and Google Workspace; familiarity with help ticketing and room reservations.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• On-site work with possible evenings/weekends; valid MI driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise, train and schedule Facilities Assistants and volunteers.
• Oversee maintenance, repairs, cleaning, inspections, safety and security issues.
• Coordinate vendors, projects and procurements; arrange minor repairs.
• Manage room setup/takedown and IT troubleshooting for programs.
• Prepare monthly reports for Library Board and maintain building docs.
• Co-Chair Safety Committee; enforce policies and respond to emergencies.
• Communicate with patrons and staff; collaborate across departments.
• Support transportation tasks and monitor vehicle use and maintenance.
• Remain flexible with hours to support events and library needs.
