Job summary

Maine College of Art & Design seeks an Assistant Director of Facilities to oversee campus operations, maintenance, and project management across MECA&D’s facilities. You will supervise staff and coordinate vendors, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficient service delivery with flexible scheduling for essential operations.

The role requires managing budgets, documentation, and emergency readiness while supporting a collaborative, inclusive campus community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years in facilities operations and maintenance preferred.
• Previous supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of building systems, safety standards, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, fire safety, environmental).
• Experience budgeting, forecasting, procurement, and documentation practices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily facilities operations to keep buildings and grounds safe, clean, and functional.
• Lead small to mid-sized capital and maintenance projects from planning through completion.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and prioritizing departmental projects; maintain documentation and records.
• Supervise vendors/contractors to ensure quality, safety, and compliance; coordinate training and team communication.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire safety, environmental standards and regulatory reviews.
• Support emergency preparedness planning, including snow/ice response and building shutdowns.
