Job summary

The Department of General Services (DGS) - Facilities Management Division in Washington, DC, seeks a supervisory leader to manage boiler plants and related mechanical systems across the DGS facility portfolio.

You will provide expert guidance on system performance, ensure compliance with District and federal requirements, and coordinate maintenance strategies with agency managers. This is a high-responsibility MSS role focused on safety, reliability, and building operation excellence.

Qualifications

• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required.
• DC 1st Class Steam Engineer License required.
• Specialized experience is directly related to boiler operations; at least 1 year at the next lower grade level is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the BPO Unit and provide expert guidance on boiler plant operations and compliance.
• Advise executive leadership on maintenance strategies, risk, and system failures; respond to inquiries from agency leadership.
• Develop operational goals, staffing projections, and budget requirements for boiler plant operations; recommend policy updates.
• Oversee Building Automation Systems (BAS) integration and boiler controls to optimize performance and safety.
