Job summary

Afognak Native Corporation seeks a Lead Operating Engineer to oversee the safe and efficient operation of all Central Plant equipment, including boilers, HVAC units, and electrical systems, under the Chief Engineer. You will serve as Chief Engineer when needed and guide junior staff while maintaining strict safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires extensive mechanical systems knowledge, a District of Columbia 3rd Class Steam and Hot Water Heating Boiler Engineer license, and a Secret

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in facility engineering or related field.
• DC 3rd Class Steam and Hot Water Heating Boiler Engineer license is required.
• Secret security clearance required.
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, facility management, and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and capacity for independent decision making.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and repair central plant equipment including boilers, HVAC units, and electrical systems.
• Act in the capacity of Chief Engineer when required.
• Provide technical oversight and guidance to junior engineering staff.

Description

The Lead Operating Engineer works under the direct supervision of the Chief Engineer and assumes the Chief Engineer’s responsibilities when necessary. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all Central Plant equipment and systems. As a senior stationary engineer, the Lead Operating Engineer oversees complex mechanical systems—such as boilers, HVAC units, and electrical equipment—within the facility, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and regulatory compliance.

• Operate, maintain, and repair all Central Plant equipment, including boilers, HVAC units, and electrical systems
• Act in the capacity of Chief Engineer when required

Requirements

• Minimum five (5) years of experience in engineering services related to facility operations

• Demonstrated leadership abilities and capacity for independent decision making

Working Conditions

• May require occasional travel to project sites and other company locations.
• Work occurs in both office and field environments.
• May require work outside of regular business hours to address urgent technical issues or project deadlines.
