• Coordinate ventilation, safety equipment testing, and regulatory compliance inspections across campus.
• Oversee space logistics, including audits of vacancies and office layout changes for compliance.
• Deliver mandatory safety training programs and lead safety discussions for campus committees.

Governors State University is seeking to hire a FacilitiesOperations Coordinator in the Facilities Development &Management department to be responsible for a variety of essentialtasks related to the effective management, operation, and safety ofthe university. The primary purpose of this position is to develop,administer, and manage programs procedures, and protocols to ensurea healthy and safe work environment, as well as to comply with thelatest regulations law codes and standards.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President (AVP), thisposition will address the needs of Facilities and DevelopmentManagement (FDM) by researching, documenting, and recommendingsolutions to routine and special situations as they arise. Theduties of this role require extensive knowledge of the university'sorganization, programs, policies, and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities

25% Provide comprehensive administrative support to the AVP and thebroader FDM staff. Assist with facility project coordinationtechnical documentation. and operations follow-up tasks. Serve asan authoritative liaison providing clear safety information andassistance to all university levels. Research and recommendsolutions for routine and special operations situations impactingFDM. Manage data entry report preparation. purchasing activities.and meeting coordination for facility safety. Maintain and updaterelevant web content and electronic compliance records as itrelates to facility safety. Remain current with industry standards.inst1tut1onal trends. and modern safety best practices.

25% Develop and maintain a budget for operational risk management.Manage inventory controls and process requisitions and invoices forincoming university goods and safety supplies. Authorize orders forsafety equipment and essential facility operational supplies.Evaluate maintenance reports and operational spending to maintainsafe, functional and budget-compliant university facilities.

10% Enhance campus space logistics by auditing vacancies andmanaging hotel suite operations to maximize resources. Overseeoffice layout changes to ensure university compliance.

10% Conduct safety inspections. incident investigations. hazardassessments and compliance audits across campus. Ensure continuousadherence to OSHA EPA. NFPA. Illinois Department of Labor, andother applicable regulations. Investigate identify. and evaluateoccupational safety issues and recommend quick corrective actions.Review campus infrastructure projects for compliance with theAmericans with Disabilities Act and the Illinois AccessibilityCode. Coordinate required inspections, testing, monitoring, andstate reporting for underground storage tanks with facilitiesengineers.

10% Develop, maintain, and coordinate mandatory institutionalsafety training programs. Deliver specialized training modules,including lockout/tagout. confined space entry. fall protection.scaffolding. and ladder/aerial work platform safety. Delivergeneral training such as. respirator protection. hazardcommunication bloodborne pathogens. construction safety, industrialhygiene, and asbestos management. Lead safety discussions withinthe College of Arts and Sciences Art Safety Committee. Developcommittee recommendations and coordinate implementation of policiesto improve campus safety practices

10% Oversee hazardous waste accumulation. storage. transportation.recordkeeping. strict regulatory compliance. and the university'smedical and hazardous waste management program, including theproper inventory storage, recycling, and disposal of batteries,lamps. ballasts, etc.

5% Ensure annual certification calibration, and operationalreadiness of fume hoods and air monitoring equipment. Coordinatetesting inspections. maintenance and recordkeeping for all campusAEDs. Procure replacement parts Includ1ng AED batteries. pads andrelated emergency response equipment. Perform ergonomic assessmentson office furniture to ensure staff workplace wellness. Serve asthe primary dig coordinator for Joint Utility Locating informationfor JULIE. Work with internal and external crews to verify properutility markings before excavation

5% Other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $50,190.30 - $70,000.00.

This is a full-time, on-campus position from 8:00 - 4:00 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent. AND
2. Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36months)from the categories below:
   1. college course work in facility management, operationsmanagement, or a closely related field, as measured by thefollowing conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
      • 60 semester hours or an Associate’s Degree equals one (1)year (12 months)
   2. training from a vocational, technical, or an armed forcesprogram which includes building operations such as coordination ofbuilding maintenance such as coordination of building maintenance, construction management, hospitality, orclosely related experience.
   3. work experience which includes building operations such as coordination of building maintenance and work orders, constructionmanagement, hospitality, or closely related experience.AND
3. One (1) year (12 months) of supervisory oradministrative experience which includes building operations suchas coordination of building maintenance and work orders,construction management, hospitality, or closely relatedexperience.

• Three years of professional experience in environmental healthand safety and project coordination

• FEMA Emergency Management Institute National Incident ManagementSystem Training Certification
• Ability to maintain professionalism in diverse field settings,with various equipment and groups

• Willingness and ability to become certified in other relevantfields
• Working knowledge of Illinois Department of Labor Policy andregulations
