Job summary

Manatee County is seeking a skilled trades worker to perform demolition, salvage, renovation, and repair tasks across County buildings and grounds. The role requires practical experience in multiple trades and a strong commitment to safety procedures.

Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, performing flooring, masonry, painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, roofing, and HVAC work, and coordinating with supervisors on project progress.

Qualifications

• High school graduate/equivalent.
• Minimum of two (2) years skilled trades work experience in commercial building construction, maintenance, and repair.
• Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
• Vocational training certification in one or more skilled trades related to area of assignment desired.

Responsibilities

• Performs general and specialized work involved in demolition, salvage, renovation, alteration, installation, and repair projects for County buildings, equipment, facilities, systems, and grounds.
• Ensures safety rules are followed and work is performed in accordance with applicable rules, regulations and procedures.
• Reads and interprets blueprints and sketches.
• Performs a variety of flooring, masonry, painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, roofing, HVAC, and related maintenance tasks.
• Replaces lights and/or ballasts; identifies causes of mechanical/electrical failures and reports problems.
• Operates tools and equipment; lifts and moves heavy materials up to 50 lbs (100 lbs with assistance).

Education

High school graduate or equivalent

Vocational training certification in one or more skilled trades
