Job summary

City of Bartow is seeking a dedicated security officer to maintain safety at city recreational facilities. You will enforce rules, protect materials and people, and monitor for disturbances under regular supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, at least two years of related experience, and a valid Florida driver's license. You will perform interior and exterior patrols, respond to emergencies, and support city staff during events.

Job description

Performs responsible protective service work maintaining security at the city recreational facilities; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.

• Enforces established rules and regulations.
• Provides security for building, personnel and patrons which includes protecting materials and documents against illegal acts or damage.
• Monitors activities for improper conduct of users, disturbances and congregation of customers, destruction of property and improper use of materials and equipment; Monitors facilities for the safety of the City facilities
• Patrols area on foot in order to detect unauthorized activities, Inside the facilities, at meetings and other events
• Confronts unauthorized and/or undesirable persons and follows procedure as required; Responds to complaints from customers and staff
• Locks and unlocks doors as needed; Ensures that lights are turned on and off and that doors and gates are open or locked as necessary.
• Performs related tasks as required.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent; at least two years related experience required; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience which provides the necessary intermediate knowledge, skills, and abilities and other competencies necessary for the position
