  • Reliability & Risk Analysis: learn FMEA and RCA.
  • Technical Modeling: hydraulic system calculations, flow modeling.
  • Compliance: understand building codes and semiconductor purity requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Work on critical infrastructure and mechanical systems supporting semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with electrical, chemical, and controls engineers to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Assist in the project lifecycle: analysis, design, and installation oversight for mechanical distribution systems.
  • Support review of construction documentation, submittals, and RFIs.
  • Assist in creating and managing project documentation including P&ID and PFD.

About the Job

Facilities Mechanical Engineering interns will have the opportunity to work on the critical infrastructure and mechanical systems that support our semiconductor manufacturing operations. You will gain hands-on experience with large-scale mechanical systems, including HVAC (air systems, Fan Filter Units, and exhaust systems), chilled and condenser water systems, cooling towers, and fire protection systems.

Working in a cross-disciplinary setting, you will collaborate alongside electrical, chemical, and controls engineers to improve the reliability and efficiency of our facility's mechanical infrastructure.

Key Learning & Support Opportunities:
1. Sustaining & Systems Engineering:
  • Mechanical Systems Exposure:Gain practical knowledge of Non-Process Systems such as HVAC, DX systems, and plant/house vacuum systems.
  • Operational Excellence:Support the team in maximizing operational and maintenance efficiency for mechanical systems.
  • Reliability & Risk Analysis:Learn to apply reliability-focused methodologies, including FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Technical Modeling:Assist in learning hydraulic system calculations, flow modeling, and psychrometric heat transfer calculations.
  • Compliance:Understand how mechanical systems integrate with building codes (IFC, IBC, NFPA) and semiconductor high-purity requirements.
2. Project Management Support:
  • Project Lifecycle:Participate in the engineering analysis, design, and installation oversight for mechanical distribution systems.
  • Construction Management:Support the review of construction documentation, such as submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Financial Literacy:Learn how to manage project-related financial information, including change notices, purchase orders, and capital forecasting.
  • Commissioning:Assist in the execution of project commissioning to ensure all mechanical equipment and infrastructure perform as designed.
  • Design Documentation:Assist in creating and managing project documentation, including construction drawings, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), and Process Flow Diagrams (PFD).
