Job summary

Texas Instruments is seeking an experienced Process Water Engineer to join the Facilities Central Engineering Team in Utah. You will drive optimization of DIW/UPW, IWW, and reclaim/reuse systems, balance safety and performance, and lead capital projects from concept to startup.

You will collaborate with operations, maintenance, and EHS to improve system reliability and compliance, mentor staff, and develop critical process documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in mechanical or chemical engineering required
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Experience with UPW/DIW, IWW, and reclaim/reuse systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Balance safety, reliability, cost, capacity and efficiency in engineering decisions.
  • Lead design and continuous improvement of DIW/UPW, IWW, and reclaim/reuse systems.
  • Provide engineering support for system operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and incidents.
  • Develop and maintain P&IDs, process flow diagrams, SOPs, and sequences of operation.
  • Drive reliability and risk-based engineering via RCA, FMEA, and improvement roadmaps.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, manufacturing, EHS, and engineering to improve system performance and safety.
  • Mentor engineers and technicians to strengthen team capabilities.
  • Lead capital and expense projects for system upgrades from concept through startup and handoff.
  • Define project scope, priorities, schedules, resources, and success metrics.
  • Coordinate design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Develop scopes of work, bid packages, technical specifications, and construction documentation.
  • Facilitate alignment across engineering, operations, supply chain, and external partners.
  • Identify and manage project risks, change control, and implementation issues.
  • Report project progress, results, and lessons learned to leadership

Texas Instruments (TI) is looking for an experienced Process Water Enginee r to join our Facilities Central Engineering Team. In this role you will drive continuous improvement and optimization of our process water systems, including deionized/ultrapure water (DIW/UPW), industrial wastewater (IWW), and reclaim & reuse systems. You will leverage your technical expertise to advance process efficiency, ensure compliance, and support the strategic goals of our facility’s manufacturing operations. These systems are designed to run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year without interruption, creating a state of the art manufacturing environment. Facilities works closely with TI's manufacturing team to understand how the utility systems impact the process as well as how to reduce consumption.

Engineering & Technical Leadership
  • Make engineering decisions that balance safety, reliability, cost, capacity, and operational efficiency

  • Lead the analysis, design, and continuous improvement of deionized/ultrapure water (DIW/UPW), industrial wastewater (IWW), and reclaim & reuse systems utility systems

  • Provide engineering technical support for system operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and incident response

  • Develop and maintain key system documentation, including P&IDs, process flow diagrams, operating procedures, and sequences of operation

  • Drive reliability and risk-based engineering through root cause analysis, FMEAs, system assessments, and improvement roadmaps

  • Partner with operations, maintenance, manufacturing, EHS, and engineering teams to improve system performance and safe operation

  • Mentor engineers and technicians while strengthening overall team technical capability

Project Leadership & Execution
  • Lead capital and expense projects for system upgrades, expansions, and optimization initiatives from concept through startup and handoff

  • Define project scope, priorities, schedules, resources, and success measures, and drive execution to plan

  • Coordinate design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities to ensure systems perform as intended

  • Develop scopes of work, bid packages, technical specifications, and construction documentation

  • Facilitate alignment across engineering, operations, supply chain, and external partners throughout project execution

  • Identify and manage project risks, change control, and implementation issues to minimize operational impact

  • Report project progress, results, and lessons learned to leadership

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related science field

  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Capital or expense project leadership for semiconductor process water systems

  • Strong background in UPW/DIW and Industrial Wastewater unit processes for semiconductor manufacturing including:

  • Semiconductor facilities process water systems design, maintenance, or operations

  • Water purification systems (DIW/UPW, reverse osmosis, ion exchange)

  • Industrial wastewater treatment or reclaim/reuse systems

  • High-purity water or chemical delivery infrastructure

  • Advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, FMEA, and reliability engineering experience

  • Performance metrics, dashboards, and data analysis for system optimization

  • Cross-functional partnership across facilities, manufacturing, EHS, process engineering, and maintenance
