Job summary

Grand River Aseptic Manufacturing (GRAM) is seeking a Facilities Engineer to optimize facility utilities and lead mechanical systems projects. You will serve as an SME for utilities, oversee construction, and enforce best practices across engineering initiatives within GRAM's facilities team.

Applicants should hold a B.S. in a relevant engineering field and possess experience in regulated manufacturing such as pharma or food processing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent knowledge).
• 0–3 years of experience in Manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or food/beverage processing.
• 4–7 years for Level II; 7+ years for Sr. Level in regulated manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Review equipment specs and technical docs for new equipment.
• Develop operation and maintenance procedures and SOPs.
• Test, operate, and qualify facility equipment; support validation activities.
• Coordinate cross-functionally with PM, Maintenance, Operations, Tech Services and Quality.
• Manage moderately sized engineering projects and supervise external contractors.
• Assist in creating engineering/validation docs and execute protocols.
• Mentor junior engineers and share problem-solving approaches.

Overview of this Position:

The Facilities Engineer assist the GRAM Engineering department by specializing in facility and utility optimization and providing subject matter expertise on mechanical systems. Run projects and oversee construction activities. Demonstrate, build, and enforces the best practices for all engineering projects and functions within the facilities engineering department. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in several utilities. Collaborates cross-functionally to manage increasingly demanding moderate projects.

Non-Negotiable Requirements:

Level I:

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent knowledge)
• 0-3 years of experience in Manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or food/beverage processing.

Level II:

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent knowledge)
• 4-7 years of experience in Manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or food/beverage processing.

Sr. Level:

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent knowledge)
• 7+ years of experience in deep technical engineering experience in utilities that are constant with pharmaceutical, chemical or food/beverage processing.

Preferred Requirements:

• Working knowledge of facility utility equipment including HVAC, compressed gases, pure water systems, and utility steam, pure steam, and chilled and heated water systems.
• Regulated industrial experience with quality systems deliverables including completion of Change Controls, NCR's and CAPA's and managing of capital projects.
• Experience managing moderately sized engineering projects and supervise external contractor activities.
• Regulated industrial experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

• Review engineering documents and technical specifications for new equipment.
• Participate in equipment specification and operational procedure development.
• Test, operate, troubleshoot, commission and qualify facility equipment.
• Write and edit Operation and Maintenance procedures.
• Support and execute facilities validation, verification, and testing activities.
• Coordinate cross-functionally with Project Management, Maintenance, Operations, Tech Services, and Quality to provide solution recommendations.
• Study equipment metrics to implement operational changes and utility enhancements.
• Initiate change controls for adding, altering, or decommissioning qualified systems.
• Manage moderately sized engineering projects and supervise external contractor activities.
• Assist in creation of Engineering and Validation documentation and execution of protocols including RAR, FRS, URS, FAT, IOQ, PQ, including PNID redlines.
• Creating and revising SOP and SWI's.
• Provide active mentorship, coaching, and problem-solving guidance to junior engineers.
• Assist more senior engineers with troubleshooting and design workflows.
• Exchange technical information clearly and concisely with teammates.
