Job summary

Motive Workforce is seeking an experienced Professional Mechanical Engineer (PE) to lead design for manufacturing and facility projects in the Greater Los Angeles area. You will oversee mechanical systems, HVAC, plumbing, process piping, and gas systems, coordinating with A&E firms and contractors to deliver safe, high‑quality work on schedule and within budget.

The role requires a California PE license, a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and 9+ years of relevant experience in industrial or process

Qualifications

  • CA Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) – Mechanical Engineering (Required).
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 9+ years of mechanical engineering experience in manufacturing, industrial, or process facilities.
  • Experience designing or modifying manufacturing and process equipment, HVAC, plumbing, process piping, and gas systems.
  • Familiarity with Mechanical and Plumbing Building Codes and industry standards (ASME, ANSI, ASTM, NFPA, ASHRAE, SMACNA).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical engineering design for manufacturing and facility projects.
  • Develop calculations, specifications, construction documents, and cost estimates.
  • Support equipment installations, renovations, and capital projects.
  • Manage projects from scope development through execution, including schedules and budgets.
  • Review construction drawings, submittals, and as‑built documentation.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and cross‑functional teams.

Job description

We''re growing and looking for an experienced Professional Mechanical Engineer (PE) to join our team in the Greater Los Angeles area. If you have a California PE license and enjoy leading facility improvement projects from concept through construction, we''d love to connect.

In this role, you''ll lead the engineering and design of manufacturing and facility infrastructure projects, including mechanical systems, HVAC, plumbing, process piping, clean pressurized gas systems, and equipment installations. You''ll work closely with internal stakeholders, A&E firms, and construction contractors to deliver safe, high-quality projects on schedule and within budget.

What You'll Do
  • Lead mechanical engineering design for manufacturing and facility projects.
  • Develop engineering calculations, specifications, construction documents, and cost estimates.
  • Support equipment installations, facility renovations, and capital construction projects.
  • Manage projects from scope development through execution, including schedules, budgets, contractor coordination, and invoice approvals.
  • Review and approve construction drawings, contractor submittals, and as-built documentation.
  • Interpret and apply applicable building codes and engineering standards.
  • Partner with maintenance teams to troubleshoot mechanical systems and provide technical support.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineering firms, contractors, and cross-functional project teams.
What We\'re Looking For
  • California Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) – Mechanical Engineering (Required)
  • Bachelor''s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 9+ years of mechanical engineering experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, or process facilities.
  • Strong experience designing or modifying:
  • Manufacturing and process equipment
  • HVAC systems
  • Plumbing systems
  • Process piping
  • Clean pressurized gas systems
  • Working knowledge of Mechanical and Plumbing Building Codes.
  • Familiarity with industry standards including ASME, ANSI, ASTM, NFPA, ASHRAE, and SMACNA.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Excellent project management, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working in both office and industrial environments.
Required
  • U.S. Citizenship only (No dual citizenship).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required site access.
