Job summary

Edison Smart is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer (PE) to join our client’s Engineering team in Denver, CO. This role leads mechanical projects from concept through construction and provides technical leadership for HVAC, plumbing, and building systems.

Responsibilities include coordinating project teams, performing analyses, and mentoring junior engineers while ensuring designs meet codes and standards. Strong leadership and communication are essential in this fast-paced consulting environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • PE license is required.
  • Experience with HVAC and building mechanical systems is essential.
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD preferred.
  • Experience in an AEC/MEP consultancy is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and coordination of mechanical building systems for diverse projects.
  • Manage deliverables from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Perform engineering calculations, load analysis, and equipment selections.
  • Develop and review drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior/mid-level engineers.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated mechanical system designs.
  • Support client meetings, project planning, and technical presentations.
  • Conduct quality reviews to ensure code compliance and project requirements.

Edison Smart is actively looking to hire an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer (PE) to join our client's Engineering team in Denver, CO. This is a key role leading mechanical engineering projects from concept through construction.

The Lead Mechanical Engineer (PE) will provide technical leadership for the design and delivery of HVAC, plumbing and building mechanical systems across a diverse portfolio of projects. This role combines hands‑on engineering, project leadership, client engagement, and team mentoring responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and coordination of mechanical building systems for a variety of project types
  • Manage mechanical engineering project deliverables from schematic design through construction administration
  • Perform engineering calculations, load analysis, equipment selection, and technical evaluations
  • Develop and review engineering drawings, specifications, reports, and construction document
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and ensure integration of mechanical systems within overall building designs
  • Support client meetings, project planning, and technical presentations as required
  • Conduct quality reviews to ensure designs comply with project requirements, industry standards, and applicable codes
  • Support sustainable and energy‑efficient design initiatives where appropriate
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering disciplines
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Previous experience working for an AEC or MEP Consultancy preferred
  • Strong experience designing HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial and institutional building
  • Proficiency or working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and mechanical design software
  • Thorough knowledge of ASHRAE standards, International Mechanical Code (IMC), and applicable building codes
  • Experience with HVAC systems, central plants, plumbing systems, hydronic systems, and equipment selections
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project coordination skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and mentor engineering teams in a fast‑paced consulting environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) or experience with sustainable building design
  • Experience supporting healthcare, higher education, laboratory, aviation, mission‑critical, or large commercial projects.
  • Familiarity with energy modeling and building performance optimization.
