Job summary

CBRE in a healthcare setting seeks a Facilities Mechanic to maintain HVAC, electrical and building systems, ensuring patient care spaces remain safe and comfortable. This role operates in a stable union environment where your skills are respected, and career growth is encouraged.

You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on boilers, AHUs, pumps, BAS monitoring, and routine repairs, with emphasis on safety and documentation in MS Office, coordinating with onsite staff.

Qualifications

  • 3–4 years of job-related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with boilers is required.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements (stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, lifting 50 lbs+).
  • Proficient with MS Office and basic documentation.
  • Familiarity with HVAC, electrical troubleshooting, and general building repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and facility systems.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain boilers, chillers, AHUs, motors, and power house systems.
  • Monitor BAS, perform rounds, and respond to equipment issues.
  • Maintain plumbing, perform drain cleaning, door repairs, and painting projects.
  • Support patient care environments by responding to service requests and adjusting OR conditions.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to ensure continuous facility operations.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and facility systems to support safe and efficient hospital operations.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment including boilers, chillers, air handling units (AHUs), motors, and Power House systems.
  • Monitor building systems through the Building Automation System (BAS), complete mechanical room rounds, and respond to equipment issues.
  • Maintain plumbing systems and fixtures, perform drain cleaning, repair doors and hardware, and complete general maintenance and painting projects.
  • Support patient care environments by responding to service requests, adjusting operating room conditions, changing medical gas cylinders, and installing facility equipment as needed.
  • Conduct water and chemical testing, assist with maintenance projects, and participate in the on-call rotation to ensure continuous facility operations.
What You’ll Need
  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 3-4 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Experience with boilers required.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to use existing procedures to solve standard problems.
  • Experience with analyzing information and standard practices to make judgments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset.
  • Should any element of this Job Description conflict with the provisions of an applicable collective bargaining agreement, the terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement will prevail.
