Job summary

ArtCenter College of Design is seeking a Facilities Mechanic I to perform routine maintenance, repairs, and installations across campus facilities. The role is based on-site and requires the ability to work with various trades and vendors to keep campus facilities in optimal condition.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience, a valid California driver license, and the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of maintenance/building repair experience on complex systems.
• Valid California Driver License.
• Able to read/write/communicate in English with students, faculty, staff, vendors, and contractors.
• Able to work in confined spaces, at heights, outdoors, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and respond to emergencies.
• Working knowledge of CMMS.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely service on tasks and work orders.
• Perform wall restoration and painting prep work.
• Safely operate forklift and power tools according to safety procedures.
• Coordinate with Lead Facilities Mechanic and contact certified technicians/contractors when needed.
• Deliver and install equipment at sites as required.
• Install fire extinguishers, bulletin boards, and seismic anchoring devices.
• Repair plumbing fixtures and bathroom hardware.
• Repair or replace light fixtures and bulbs.
• Make minor repairs to office furniture and equipment, including power washing exterior.
