Job summary

College for Creative Studies in Detroit is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the Facilities Department across a range of trades. The role requires a hands-on approach to painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work and basic equipment maintenance on a busy campus.

You will receive deliveries, assist with events, manage mail, and help maintain life-safety systems. A valid license, clean driving record and the ability to lift 50 pounds are expected.

Qualifications

• High school education required; some college preferred.
• 1–3 years of maintenance experience, preferably in an institution.
• Proficiency with computers, building automation, email, Excel, and database entry.

Responsibilities

• Perform painting, patching, touch-ups and carpentry duties.
• Carry out minor plumbing and electrical work.
• Receive deliveries and manage mail functions on campus.
• Conduct grounds maintenance and snow removal.
• Drive and maintain college vehicles for tasks.
• Assist with irrigation, HVAC basics and life-safety systems.
• Set up/tear down events and move furniture/equipment.
• Operate basic equipment and hand tools safely.
• Assist with on-site safety training (AED, CPR) as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
