Job summary

Rutgers University is seeking a Facilities Manager for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) in Newark. The role ensures safe, efficient operation and maintenance of all physical systems and real property at NJMS Laboratory facilities, under the Campus Manager.

You will help set goals, coordinate with leadership, and oversee engineering staff and test protocols. The ideal candidate has an engineering degree with 5+ years in facilities management within healthcare, research,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering plus five years of progressively responsible experience in plant operations, maintenance and/or construction, with laboratory experience.
• At least five years in a managerial capacity within a Healthcare, Research, and/or Higher Education Facility.
• Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
• Valid Driver's license.
• Must be able to perform hands on task and troubleshooting skills related to BSL3/ABSL3 laboratory equipment and other facilities related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Campus Manager in developing and implementing departmental goals, operating objectives and protocols.
• Coordinate with the NJMS Director of Facilities for user needs in the RBL, ICPH and other NJMS Laboratory facilities.
• Oversee maintenance of HVAC/Mechanical and Electrical Systems and related facility systems.
• Develop test protocols, monitor inspections and reports, and oversee staff Engineers.
