Job summary

Rutgers University seeks a Health Safety Specialist I (Senior Biosafety) for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations. The role develops, implements, and audits EH&S programs to protect faculty, staff, students, and the public while respecting regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with CDC, NIH, OSHA, NJDOH and related agencies, managing biosafety programs, and supporting translational research safety across labs and facilities at Rutgers-New Brunswick.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus five or more years of relevant experience.
• Valid driver's license and health/safety certifications preferred.
• Experience with EH&S programs and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and audit environmental, health, and safety programs.
• Ensure activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations to protect people and environment.
• Balance safety, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency while serving Rutgers community.
