Job summary

University of Texas at Austin's Cockrell School of Engineering seeks an EME Building Manager to oversee the EME building operations, safety, and facilities coordination. You will partner with UT Facilities, maintain lab readiness, manage spaces, and lead vendors to ensure uninterrupted research activities on the Pickle Research Campus in Austin.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in facilities management, engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of supervisory/managerial experience in facilities or building operations.
Experience managing building maintenance, systems, and vendor performance.
Ability to coordinate multiple work orders, preventive maintenance, and projects in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and building automation systems.
Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and facilities management best practices.
Experience developing scopes of work and coordinating contracted services.
Ability to build relationships and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies and participate in on-call rotation.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CMMS or facilities management systems.

Responsibilities

Serves as the EME point of contact with UT Facilities and custodial services and coordinates maintenance work orders.
Leads lab safety initiatives and ensures compliance with UT EHS policies; conducts lab inspections.
Represents the EME group with internal and external partners during renovations and facilities projects.
Manages Building Access Card System (BACs) access and space inventory records.
Liaises with UT Police, Emergency Management, and safety committees to maintain safety protocols.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
