Job summary

Franklin County is seeking a skilled Facilities Management Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize county infrastructure across public buildings. You will work with electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and other trades to keep facilities safe and reliable.

The role requires journey-level knowledge, a high school diploma with trade skills, a NC driver's license, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma with coursework in varied technical or trade skills and journey/advanced level experience in building trades.
  • Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license at hire.
  • Defensive Driving, HIPAA, First Aid/CPR, MSDS, Chemical Use, Ladder/Scaffolding, Hand Tools and Safety training within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair and troubleshoot electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry and other trades in county facilities.
  • Inspect heating, cooling and refrigeration equipment and coordinate with contractors as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance and respond to work orders to ensure safety and reliability of buildings.
  • Maintain records of surplus property, equipment movement and repairs.
  • Provide grounds maintenance and assist with custodial duties when required.
  • Communicate inspection findings and follow up with timely repairs.
