Job summary

The City of Columbia seeks aMaintenance Technician to install, maintain, and repair electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and irrigation systems. The role may supervise staff and requires following safety standards while performing a broad range of trades tasks.

Expect physical work, periodic on-call duties, and ability to work with minimal supervision under general guidance. A high school diploma or GED plus relevant experience is required.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED with two years of relevant maintenance experience.
• Ability to read and follow technical instructions, manuals and charts.
• May supervise co-workers and provide guidance as needed.
• Valid SC Class D driver's license; Journeyman Certification and HVAC cert are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assists in supervising and performs general building maintenance and repair.
• Installs, maintains and repairs plumbing systems and equipment, including fixtures and water heaters.
• Installs, maintains and repairs electrical components and equipment.
• Maintains City facilities, equipment and parking facilities.
• Cleans, services and repairs HVAC and irrigation systems.
• Troubleshoots routine problems and schedules repairs.
• Performs carpentry, masonry, tile, painting and related tasks as needed.
• Works outside regular hours including on-call, nights and weekends when required.
