Job summary

The South Shore Convention & Visitors Authority is seeking a dependable, hands-on Maintenance Technician to assist with daily maintenance, upkeep, and operation of the Indiana Welcome Center. This role ensures the facility is safe, clean, comfortable, and welcoming for visitors, guests, and staff.

Ideal candidates are reliable, safety-conscious, and capable of working independently or with a team. Strong basic skills in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, landscaping or general facility maintenance

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Basic knowledge or experience in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, landscaping, or general facility maintenance is preferred.
Comfortable working with hand and power tools.
Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance throughout the facility.
Assist with general repairs and maintenance (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, painting, doors, locks, fixtures, and equipment).
Maintain exterior grounds, landscaping, trash removal, recycling, and seasonal snow removal.
Operate and properly maintain landscaping, maintenance, and other facility equipment.
Assist with setup and teardown for events, exhibits, meetings, and other functions.
Move and organize brochures, displays, furniture, and other materials.
Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Follow safety procedures and use required safety equipment.
Communicate maintenance issues to the Facilities Coordinator.
Work cooperatively with all departments to maintain a professional and welcoming environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
